Panoramic Picnic | Share
We were joined on the new rooftop installation by Studio Weave at the London College of Fashion, Oxford Street, for a discursive Panoramic Picnic. AVM Curiosities used this elevated view of London to delve into London’s architectural history, from the massive devastation caused by a bakery after the Great Fire of London, to minute details where food has been incorporated into design, such as the ever-present pineapple motif, a symbol of hospitality and welcome. We heard the stories behind our reappropriation of London’s most notable buildings, such as the Gherkin and the Cheesegrater, with tastings throughout the evening.
Founded by food historian Tasha Marks in 2011, AVM Curiosities has been exploring the relationship between art, food and history through a series of high-calibre events and edible interventions.
